The Concept of Useful Negative Thinking

It is our most common belief that any sort of negativeness in life proves to be damaging and leads to unfavorable emotions. However, there are a few instances where negative thinking actually serves in a positive way. Sometimes negative thoughts have a secret layer of extraordinary positivity in them.

However, we are so occupied stewing over negative thoughts that the positive contribution simply escapes our mind. Therefore it is essential to appreciate that negative emotions are not always bad but rather, when seen in a favorable light, they can really help us in coping with life in a more beneficial way.

For example, useful negative thinking can be extremely advantageous. Sometimes negative emotions and feelings tend to bring the best out of you. As the common saying goes, opposites attract, negative thoughts, likewise, attract positive feelings.

A certain amount of negative thoughts is helpful to every person. Negative thoughts are extremely natural and normal. Only overindulgence in negativity should be avoided.

Negative thinking, many times, inadvertently leads to self-contemplation, which helps you realize your needs and beliefs better. Each of our negative emotions or sentiments can prove to be a learning experience that teaches us invaluable lessons of life.

Therefore, you should learn the fine art of opting for useful negative thinking. Negative thinking helps you in interpreting your failings and specialities. You are then able to work towards developing your strengths and talents.

However, this does not mean that you should sit brooding over your negative thoughts all the time. You should try to bring out the hidden message or meaning that each negative thought carries within it.

You should keep a balance between your negative and positive emotions. Life is filled with all kinds of experiences, some of which are very painful. If you know that, you cannot escape this pain merely by positive thinking…so then why not embrace such negative thoughts and learn from them?

Negative thinking is the result of all those negative impressions you have absorbed, which you have saved in your subconscious mind. You need to throw these negative emotions out of your subconscious mind and be free from them. Negative thinking is truly everywhere!

Negative thinking is not something we are born with. Nor is it a mental illness that requires psychiatric help. Negative thinking is as pervasive as the flu but is far more damaging and you can’t prevent it with a flu shot. We don’t realize that when we think negatively we are practicing self-hypnosis and create self-fulfilling prophecies.

Positive thinking, on the other hand, helps us feel good about ourselves and our lives. It is critical to our health and well-being, especially when life’s challenges keep coming. However, don't dismiss the poisitive impact that negative thinking can have on our lives - whether it is simply to put us back on the right course again, or to redress the balance to avoid getting too 'high', we all need some negative feelings to give us balance.
