Ok so here it goes. I am 17 and i have really low self- esteem/ self- confidence. I know why, it's because i have depression and have had it for many years. I just wanted to know if there is anyway i could boost it a little. Because it is so low it have gotten in the way of relationships. So any help at all would be very nice. I'm not looking for pills or anything. I just want to know if there is anything I can do by my self I've also been to doctors and the whole 10 yards. I want to do it by myself

It sounds gay but type up a list of 20 positive affirmations and hang it up somewhere where you will read it every day.(ex. i am loveable, i am strong. i am smart...) after a while your mind will start to believe it and your self esteem will improve. when someoen says something that insults or hurt you, dont dwel on it or entertain the idea that its true.shrug it off and realize that that is one persons opinion and you are not going to let it harm your self esteem that you are working so hard to achieve. as soon as you catch yourself thinking a negative thought about yourself, stop and replace it with a positive one (ex..No, that is not true. i am a very awesome loveable person) it works!

Talk to a doctor to see if you can get any medication. in the end it will be worth it. look in the mirror, and don't focus on your flaws. know you are a beautiful person. even if you don't think so, others do. if it has gotten in the way of relationships, then maybe dating isnt good. just wait for someone you really care about who cares about you too and then it will boost your confidence. hope i helped, Jenna-Rose

Nobody has depression.. they thinkk they do... try looking in the mirror everyday and saying something u like about urself! and then ask ur friends why u r there friends! i use to think i looked ugly in everything i wore... but then i tried things i never thought i would ever wear and it helped me! cuz the clothes r cute on anybody! if its something u can help like acne...CLEAR IT UP! if its bad hairstyle... TRY SOMETHINGDIFFERENT AND MORE U! and if u say something negative hav ur friends slap u! thats wat mine do!!! hope this helped!!!

See a therapist, have a support system (friends, family), and don't dwell on the negative. Do things you like to do and things that make you happy. What are your hobbies? Be a POSITIVE person and smile.

I used to be the same way when i was ten i watched a guy suffocate on a blood clot and that fucked me up now I'm 15 and i am at one of the happiest times of my life and this is what i did: don't let shit get to you, talk to somebody, and when I'm at a very low point use something with nicotine in it it will give you a buzz and calm you down, also it gets you're mind off of what ever is depressing you.

My last year's final presentation was about depression, to give you a brief answer wont be easy i afraid! First do you know it's an illness? It's not you as YOURSELF, it's just what you have... to me i call it the weak side of personality when it prevails,... Second, just wanna tell ya that the funny about my experience was I had my depression last year too, and doing that project was my way out - lucky me -. So the biggest help you would ever have is to dig the net 'seriously' lookin for the exact cure you feel it's suitable for your condition; cuz you might not get all satisfying answers here... Now lets get to you, one of the best ways to get out is achievements, but this might take too long. But try to do some work (as much as you can; cuz depression drags all the energy outta the person). Doing anything would make you feel better, will help you slowly. But try things that don't need that much energy or thinkin to start with (like a craft, washin the car! video games counts as a positive way for normality). Just find whatever is good for you as a progress. If you didnt get any better, or even still unable to do any works, you might wanna think of takin medications, and I don't think you wanna see a psychiatrist but this option is helpful, as GET HELP step for sever depression.

Ok, if you really want to do it on your own, every morning when you are getting ready for the day, try tell yourself 10 things you like about yourself or things you are good at. every time I start getting down on myself about my looks or social skills or smarts or whatever I make sure I can at least also tell myself something I know I am good at, something that makes me worthwhile. I hope you understood what I just tried to write. I think that you should really just try talking to people about things more, you will start to get positive feedback and that will make you feel better.

You think since they are parents that they are just being normal with what they say, and they have a right to talk like that as parents. Turns out many parents are abusers.
