Question: I dont want this to kill my self confidence?

I might have to get braces.. and i'm nearly 16.. is should have got braces 2 years ago and all im thinking is i wish i got them then cus theyd be off now... i think my self confidence would be so dented... am i too old for braces? i dont mean physically.. has this ship passed? or should i still try and get them? >

Ah your still young!, 16 aint old, trust me get them now so u can have them off when your 18, much better age to have them off, nice straight teeth at 18 cant get much better than that :D brace's at school is common, who cares what they think anyway,not like their your best friend and even then best friends wont care, i don't even see ANY of the people that i went to school with anymore. lol!

Your 16 you still have a lifespan of about 70 more years to have ups and down through id love to get braces but never could afford it and now to old would need my jaw broken first my sister had them on at 18 go for it now and have better teeth rest of your life

I'd say get 'em. I got mine at that age, then got them off just in time to meet the man that became my husband (at 18). Worked out good for me. They may hurt you're self confidence for a short time, but you'd get used to them, and it will be best for your oral health in the long run.

You're so young to be so scared to have braces at that age! Me, I got my braces when I was 18 and I have to take them off once I'm 20 and that's right after I graduate. Braces are not meant for less confidence in an individual. So don't worry. Once you've taken your braces off, now that's ten times more confidence for you! So go for it!

Dudette, get them and get them now. Don't think twice. You will love your smile (and so will others ;o) in 2 years. You are never too old for braces. My Mom got them put on at 50 yrs old. I want to get them put back on at 45 yrs old 'cause my teeth have shifted over the years. 18 yr old neighbor just got them put on and a 26 yr old co-worker just got them off last month. Go go go and don't look back. Sure you are going to be a little self confident but what does it really matter. Think who you are worried about seeing you with braces and decide if they are worth worrying about.
