cognitive therapy stuff... if you read anywhere about this you know what i mean but my question is this Does it ever really get CURED? Or do you have to always treat yourself with these affirmations like " I really am lovable. I love myself..." forever and ever?? I'm about to embark on a very busy schedule for the next 7 weeks...I'm going back to school 2 classes online , working 3 12hr shifts a week and training with a personal trainer to get in shape, oh and following a modified " eating plan." It sounds like I have alot on my plate. I don't want to get discouraged and want only the best. I'm starting by saying " I CAN AND WILL GET THROUGH THIS."

I have been doing positive affirmations on self esteem and confidence as I have a negative self image since my teens...I am 24 now,male...I have a recorded positive 1st person present tense affirmations CD.Now everytime I fall asleep listening to it at night,I see these terrifying scary creatures,something like straight out of a gory horror movie,lots of blood..today,i saw 2 huge ugly dragons serpents fighting each other and i woke up,my heart was racing.Is it my subconscious mind resisting the new positive thoughts suggestions?Also,long time back,when I wasn't doing this affirmation thing,I used to pray before bed..Even then,I had these nightmares....When I did none of the above,dreams were normal.Is it some kind of a cleansing process?What is going on?

i bought a CD called freedom from depression. the belief is that if i listen to it while i sleep every night, and a few times a week while awake, eventually it will seep into the unconscious mind and depressive thoughts will disappear. Have any of you heard of this? Do you think it could work?im pretty desperate and hoping it will work but it hasnt done much yet.
