Ther is no cure for alcoholism, you can only stop the disease from affecting you by not drinking. as for always being ocd because your a drunk, whos to say? alcoholism, for some is a compulsion, but at the same time, many people get into trouble with alcohol trying to deal with underlying issues(ocd, severe social anxiety). you have to try your best to do whats best for you. if the program helps, it may make it easier for you to stay away from alcohol.if it does'nt it may trigger you to relapse. think of it as remission, if you dont drink, your alcoholism wo'nt get worse, but the first drink is going to put you back in the same state of disease as when you quit. evry time you go back, it gets worse, faster, and you get farther away from recovery. aa is not for everyone. i was a rock solid, rock bottom drunk for more than 20 yrs, and i still cant go to aa. i just had to want to quit, and find the reason inside to follow through. in the beginning it was tough, but now i just do not drink, but every now and then i get a craving and i think of all the bad things it brings to get me through. good luck |
