Is this mindset unusual?

Question: Is this mindset unusual?

(Posted by: i. am. insane. don't. touch. on 2008-10-09 05:41:21)

Im actually afraid of loosing weight. not because i'm like borderline- underweight, but.. because i used to have an ED, and.. well i'm afraid actually to relapse again. is this weird? or a good thing?

Well it is very good that you are conscious of this. As long as you are losing a safe amount of weight and making sure not to fall back into your ED patterns you will be fine. However, if you feel that you will ultimately fall back into your ED, and you're at a safe weight now, then be happy with where you are. It is certainly not weird, and it's very good that you are still trying to maintain a healthy eating pattern.

Maybe it's a good thing? if you have had an ED before and you are afraid of relapsing then that is good... that you are aware of the possibility. if you are borderline-underweight it also might be because you don't want lose weight because then people will notice and start to ask q's again. i am also borderline-underweight with a past ED and these are reasons I worry when i start dropping weight. People start to make comments and it just stresses me out even more. But, I think that it is good how aware you are of the potential relapse. Just don't let your fear control you.

It sounds healthy and good that you have learned from your past experience and never want to relapse or go back to that place. Being aware is good.... Being 'obsessed' -even if it's to 'NOT' lose weight is not good. Are you thinking of it all through the day? Are you weighing yourself to make sure you haven't lost weight, are you checking in the mirror? Does it consume time? If so..... you should talk to a therapist who specializes in eating disorders, just to give you some more strategic ways to be free of the thought of 'eating or not eating' altogether. Sincerely best wishes to you... And a high five for asking! :)
