What are some meditation techniques that I can supplement sleep with?
To deal with insomnia, I was told that calcium magnesium and zinc tablets work. I'll try those supplements. I currently take magnesium and mucuna puriens to palliate my anxiety. In the past, meditating out the time that neighbors were up is the only activity that works to prevent the uncomfortable feeling of trying to sleep and not finding any. I then start to doze off while meditating, sitting upright. I can meditate and all, but that doesn't restore my body like sleep does. I need a meditation that can do everything that sleep does because I cannot do the actual sleep with a lady on the floor above me who has to walk around with shoes on half the night. I must meditate and perhaps wear ear cups while doing it. Barry, I have hours to do this every night. I always use a fan. I've done the hypnosis stuff it gets me drowsy, but the noises from above still make my heart jump and a wave of energy still comes over me at 5am. Thank you for the links. Here are my responses 1. Mindfulness I have the " Power of Now" book and I currently do the mindfulness meditation.2. The muscle relaxation technique tensing and releasing, exhaling the stress is what I've been using to get to sleep. I've learned to command my own muscles and all and I usually fall asleep while doing it. However, it doesn't stop the noise from the neighbor. 3. I cannot create a quiet environment that's warm enough to be comfortable in.4. The Wikihow link is the most descriptive one thanks. None of that stuff prevents my heart from jumping when there's a noise. I'll just have to work on that technique.

Depression/anger after intense meditation?
I'm fairly new to meditation, and I jumped right in by going to a 3 hour meditation at a temple at 5 AM. I did very well. Before, I thought the point of meditating was to think very little and relax. Today for the first time, I experienced a meditative state, which was accompanied by closed eye hallucinations and other crazy sensationsI felt great after I left. When I got home, my little sister was getting ready to leave for school. We have 2 caterpillars. One had escaped because she didn't close the lid like I asked her to. Usually this stuff wouldn't bother me, but I was so angry that we let the fragile little caterpillar die that I kind of lashed out at my sister said something intentionally hurtful and made her cry .That's not usually like me. Anyway, I can't pull myself out of this awful mood. I apologized to her and kept a happy face until she left, but now I'm kind of crying and I just feel like sh t. I don't know why.Am I being purified or detoxified or something?silentblue hmm...... awesome. unexplored terrain. xen uhm okay bro, haha you're no monk yet i don't think you know what you're talking about
I used some kind of deep meditation for pain managment. How did I do it?
I was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago, and had an injection. Not a normal injection. A very thick, burning, stinging and painful one with a very thick needle, and two weeks later the spot is very tender. Especially where the med student doing it slipped a bit and rubbed my rib. When it happened, I focused for a couple of minutes before and put myself into a very deep meditative state where I was aware of what was going on around me but had difficulty moving or speaking. I knew everything that was going on, and was aware of the sensations, but the pain didnt even phase me, and when I came out of it when the injection was done I felt like I came out of a very deep sleep. I am experienced with meditation techniques but that is the deepest I think I have ever gone intentionally, and it was not entirely on purpose. I would like to know how I did it, and how to use it later if needed.
Did meditation really work?
Is this to do with meditation, kundalini or anything?
When I look at people they dont look normal to me anymore. I see their material faces really clearly its kind of dreamy its not just faces but its everything on earth it just looks so detailed and like I have step off a path and awakened. Sometimes I have trouble listening to people because im thinking about how strange life is and amazed by the persons face. Feels very material to me and like I should see more like i should be seeing emotions and sensing other things on this level feels like I need to connect and feel enlightened.. Anyone ever felt this way? Whats ur experiences? Its like when I go shopping everytime i look at people i think they are prob thinking about what to buy and their minds are just caught in what to do next and very distracted. Im thinking wow life is strange and can be cool like one big dream and wow these are humans arnt we strange.lol.Also I have been doing meditation a little but this was happening before that but its a tad stronger now. Also im really attracted to purple and green colours right now, them colours are really standing out to me at the moment.Thank uXx
Are chakras real and do meditations really work? I see these all the time on youtube.com?
Not necesarily " valid" but most of the chakra meditations I've seen are on youtube.comJust imparting my source of information as opposed to making an evaluation of said source

New meditater, needs help with how to do inner self meditation?!?!?
I recently took up meditation, not to release stress not much really stresses me out , but to gain inner peace and regain myself. To explain, my friends actually got in a group and said that I haven't been myself for over 2 years. Which for myself these past 2 years I've felt very hollow or not myself in a sense. So one of my friends recommended learning how to meditate, but I've only been able to fine stuff strictly on stress release rather than I guess inner communication. So can anyone help me with what I need to do, or some things books, videos... that can teach me how I'm suppose to reach that form of meditation?Thank you in advance.
