Question: What is the definition of self mutilation?

Ok this might sound stupid but like self- mutilation is like slitting your wrists, right? well is making yourself throw up the same kind of thing? i dont think im fat, but i make myself throw up and eating food makes me feel sick. throwing up makes me feel better is that the same kind of thing as cutting yourself?

Self-mutilation is a broad term for a "complex group of behaviors " resulting in destruction of one's own tissue. These behaviors, including scratching, burning or cutting the skin, pulling out hair, breaking bones, amputation, etc. Making yourself throw up is self abuse but it is classified as an eating disorder. More specifically it is called bulimia.
