Question: How to build self confidence?

Ive always been kind of shy depending on who im with. Butt I always feel like im going to say something stupid whenever im talking around groups of people because sometimes i dont make any sense and i feel like a retard. So how do I build my confidence and not be afraid to speak my mind?

If you say something stupid laugh it off and pretend you meant to say that. maybe theyll think your funny :) and who cares what they think anyway
